AXIS & ALLIES
There were two opposing sides in World War II that fought against each other, due to differences. These sides were called the Axis and Allies.
The axis was Germany, Italy, and Japan. These were the nations that formed an alliance. They fought World War 2 against the Allied forces. The axis power was united by their hatred of the western world and the Soviet Union. In 1940 they signed the Tripartite Pact.
Hitler wanted Germany to become the leading country and wanted Berlin too become the capital of the world. Hitler also wanted Germany to be less crowded, since he felt Germany was too populated. The first thing he did was to take over Poland he took over Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Benito Mussolini was the leader of Italy; he joined with Hitler because they didn't like the western side and was afraid Hitler would attack Italy. Mussolini took over Yugoslavia, along with Albania and other countries near Greece. The empire of Japan a monarchy ruled by Hirohito. One of the main reasons Japan joined the Axis is because the USA helped China during the Japanese & Chinese war, instead of them. Japan wanted to take over all of Southeast Asia. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor so America couldn't help out china. The Axis forces had a hatred for the Allies.
The Allies of the world opposed the axis. The allies were the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union, The United Kingdom and all the members of British commonwealth. Their leader was Winston Churchill.The main reason Britain joined was because they were afraid of what was going to happen to them. Britain sank 3 Italian and German ships because they had such large navies. The Leader of United States at the time was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He supported Great Britain against Germany and China against Japan. It was the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought the U.S into the war. On December 8th, 1941 Germany and Italy declared war on December 11th on the United States. This is how the Allied forces came to be.
